Let me just say: 2017, was definitely a year of the unexpected.
Not that it was a bad year for me, necessarily … just some unexpected things happened.
Now, granted, I have been fairly open about my political leanings. And you’re smart, so you know what I mean by that statement.
But if we get right down to brass tacks, the fact of the matter is: those unexpected things will likely affect you and I very little. If we’re Witches worth our salt, anyhow.
Having said that, I did a few things I’ve wanted to do for a while. In 2017, I:
- Finally released The Spell In My Pocket in paperback
- Opened a Facebook group for my peeps to fellowship (though I’m still not really settled on the name)
- Began work on my second book (I have a tentative title, but I’m not revealing yet, except to a very small few)
- Launched the Operative Witchery Program
I mean, I’ve done a lot more than I intended to do last year.
For those who might know, I pick a Touchphrase (or keyphrase) at the front of each year. It keeps me on track with what I want to accomplish.
2017’s Touchphrase was, “Think it through.” And it basically meant: no matter what project you’re working on, no matter what you’re setting out to accomplish, whether it’s magickal, spiritual, or mundane, think through the potential results, and make sure they are what you want them to be.
(It also meant, “Don’t be a dumbass – think that shit through.” But that’s another post.)
2018’s Touchphrase is: “Focus. Plan. Execute.”
So what are my plans for this coming year?
- Publish my second book (I already have a tentative title, but it’s not time for the reveal just yet)
- Reorganize Operative Witchery (and possibly rename it)
- Return to YouTube
Why am I “rebranding?” Mostly because, once we buy our new house, I will no longer be living “in the ‘burbs.” So I won’t really be “Witch in the ‘Burbs,” anymore.
But I WILL be the, “witch next door,” to someone.
And I like the way WitchNextDoor feels better. It’s not just about me anymore. It’s really about all of us being, “the Witch next door,” because we’re really all next door to someone, right?
No matter where you go, there’s someone around. Literally, you probably have a neighbor in the apartment or house next door to you. There’s also the person “next door” in the next cubicle over (if you work in a cubicle). There’s always someone around, isn’t there?
WitchNextDoor is really about how we’re all here, we’re all in this thing together, and we’re all a part of something bigger.
And no matter how similar or different our political viewpoints, we all come from the same place.
“Holy Mother, in Whom we live, move and have our being, from You all things emerge and unto You all things return.”
So in the coming year, let’s create an accepting, compassionate community. Let’s build something beautiful. Let’s allow ourselves to be fully and wholly part of that “something Bigger.” And let’s leave the world a better place than we found it, because She is Mother Of Us All.
Peace, blessed be, and namaste!
